Instructions
  1. Soak all the bread in a bowl covered in water for 1 hour. After the hour squeeze out all of the water well.
  2. Add the flour, salt, nutmeg, baking powder, suet, raisins, currants, beaten egg to the bread and add in a little milk if required. Mix the ingredients thoroughly, then place into a greased basin or mould and cover completely with foil.
  3. Place the pudding into a saucepan of simmering water that has a saucer in the bottom for the basin to sit on. Steam for two hours on a low simmering heat; top up the water when needed.
