Quince trees seem to be laden with fruit this Autumn. Quinces are not edible raw, but they are wonderful cooked and there are all sorts of ways of using them, from Quince Jelly - it only takes a couple of fruit and it is excellent with cheese, a great addition to the Christmas table - to tarts, pies and with meats such as lamb. The Runcible Spoon is optional!
Epping Horticultural Society has been given a couple of buckets full of quinces - they are at the Trading Hut, and will keep for a week or two. Come along any Sunday morning and help yourself!
