Autumn Crocuses at Hyde Hall
Sep 13 @ 10:45 am – 3:30 pm

Why not come to the new Hilltop Lodge at RHS Garden Hyde Hall for a special event exploring the fascinating Colchicum, commonly known as autumn crocus, meadow saffron or naked ladies.

In the morning there will be a talks session where you can find out more about the genus, hear from experts on how to cultivate and maintain crocuses in your garden, and ask any questions you may have. There is also an opportunity to buy plants from a couple of nurseries. In the afternoon, experts will be on hand at the Colchicum trial beds here at Hyde Hall, to give information and advice on these and other alpine plants.

There is no booking process as the event is free to attend, subject to normal garden entry charges, on a first come, first served basis until the Hilltop Lodge event room is full.  There are also plenty of other delights at Hyde Hall this time of year, including the Global Growth Vegetable Garden, Dry Garden and Woodland Garden.

Autumn/winter colour in the garden
Oct 17 @ 8:00 pm

Come and hear this talk by George Lockwood. His biography is as follows:

“I am a full time totally organic passionate gardener, I was taught my trade at Capel Manor college and have been gardening for the last 15 years. I give presentations to gardening clubs, societies, the women’s guild and the WI. On every plant I show I explain when the plant flowers, what soil it needs and what aspect it needs, i.e. sun or shade, plus any tips I know; every member of the audience gets a full list of the plants I show, this way an individual can decide on the plant they prefer plus they are able to plan their garden to provide colour throughout the year even in these cold days.”

There will as usual be refreshments and a raffle.
